PRESS RELEASE
"I am excited to formally announce that I will be seeking re-election as Nampa’s Mayor. With a humble desire to serve the community I love and a dedication to fiscal stewardship, I would like to continue the work I began nearly four years ago,” Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling said.
Over the past four years, Mayor Kling and the City of Nampa team have celebrated several accomplishments including:
- Significantly increasing impact fees for new development to help “growth pay for growth,” and bring Nampa into alignment of allowable collection fees per state code.
- Improved support of public safety through additional officers for Nampa Police Department.
- Updates to the City of Nampa’s Comprehensive Plan to 2040 (which is the City’s long-range plan including future land use map), Transportation Master Plan, Airport Master Plan and currently updating the Park Master Plan.
- Supported the work of the Idaho Transportation Department for improvements to the Northside Boulevard Interchange, I-84 Corridor and the new State Highway Idaho 16.
- Reviewed Nampa's policy related to density; held numerous community meetings to identify recommended changes to Nampa's code.
- Re-energized the BID Board and launched the Main Street Board to focus on the success of Nampa's Downtown.
- With new business development and the continued growth of our existing businesses, we are experiencing the availability of more jobs and increased wages.
Listening to the concerns and ideas of our community has been a top priority since taking office. Over the past four years, we have conducted a community survey to capture feedback from the citizens we serve. Each year, the community has requested the City focus its funding on public safety, streets and economic development. Feedback received from the annual community survey continues to inform council budget decisions.
Even after experiencing one of the most difficult years in our history due to the pandemic, Nampa is a safer city, with lower crime rates, more employment opportunities and higher wages. While we still have a lot of work ahead, with the collaborative efforts of many community organizations and leaders, the City of Nampa is experiencing positive forward momentum.
Together, we are creating a safe and healthy community where people prosper.

Without leadership, an organization will never meet its full potential or a community will never be fully energized. Integrity is the cornerstone to true leadership and trust is the currency required to achieve it.
